Located at the southern tip of New Zealand, Stewart Island is readily accessible by ferry from Bluff (1 hour) and small plane from Invercargill (20 minutes). Both options have several departures daily.
Getting to Bluff is easy with coach transfers from Invercargill connecting with the Stewart Island Ferry service. Pick-up locations include Invercargill Airport, Tuatara Backpackers Lodge, Victoria Railway Hotel and i-SITE Visitor Centre).
On arrival at Stewart Island, you will be greeted at the Stewart Island Ferry Terminal and transferred to the Lodge. If you arrive by air, please let us know so that we can pick you up from the airport on Stewart Island.
Check in 2pm; check out 10am (irrespective of ferry departure) – Note some limited luggage storage is available.
A full continental breakfast is served from 7am until 9am in the main dining room. (Food can be served earlier/later by prior arrangement).
